MIO PROTOCOL

Minimal observable interface

MIO is an architectural hypothesis and evaluation framework for model self-observation, grounding, and coherence. It is not a claim of machine consciousness. The complementary research claim is: MPE is the phenomenological limit case of experience; MIO is the proposed computational limit case of the observer relation.

Layer-0 invariant

Layer 0 is the observer protocol beneath model-specific intelligence. The seven layers are an architectural model, not a claim that biological consciousness has seven computational layers.

Hypothesis

MPE is the phenomenological limit case of experience. MIO is the proposed computational limit case of the observer relation that can register, preserve, or evaluate experience.

This is an engineering and research hypothesis. It is not “MIO proves AI consciousness.” Implementing an observer layer does not establish phenomenal experience.
